Walking in the Power of God: A Call to Do Greater Works

Believers in Christ are not meant to live ordinary lives. We have been given extraordinary authority and power through Jesus Christ. Yet, many Christians live far below the fullness of their inheritance in Him. The Bible resounds with promises and examples of supernatural power given to believers, but today, it seems as though miracles and greater works have become rare occurrences. Why is this so?

Jesus declared in John 14:12, “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” This is not a mere suggestion or an abstract thought—it is a promise. The question is, why aren’t we walking in this power, and how can we begin to do so?

What Hinders Believers from Walking in Power?

  1. Lack of Faith and Unbelief
In Matthew 17:20, Jesus rebukes His disciples, saying, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” Faith is the currency of the supernatural. Without it, miracles cannot manifest.

  2. Ignorance of Authority
Hosea 4:6 declares, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Many believers are unaware of the authority and power given to them in Christ. They do not realize that the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in them (Romans 8:11).

  3. A Carnal Mindset
Romans 8:7 teaches us that “the mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.” To walk in power, believers must have the mind of Christ (Philippians 2:5).

  4. Fear and Doubt
Fear is a significant barrier to walking in the miraculous. Jesus often told His disciples, “Do not be afraid.” Fear paralyzes faith and prevents us from stepping into the supernatural.

  5. Failure to Practice and Persevere
Hebrews 5:14 says, “But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.” Walking in power requires practice, persistence, and a willingness to step out in faith.

How to Begin Walking in Power

  1. Renew Your Mind
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2). Meditate on God’s Word and allow it to shape your thoughts and beliefs.

  2. Believe in the Promises of God
“Everything is possible for one who believes” (Mark 9:23). Faith activates the power of God in your life.

  3. Pray Boldly
James 5:16 reminds us that “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” Pray with confidence, knowing that God hears you.

  4. Speak the Word of God
Proverbs 18:21 declares, “The tongue has the power of life and death.” Speak declarations of power and authority based on God’s Word.

  5. Step Out in Faith
“We walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Take bold steps, trusting God to move through you.

Declarations to Walk in Power

1. I Have the Spirit of God Within Me
Romans 8:11: “The Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you.”
Declaration:
“I declare that the Spirit of the living God dwells in me. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is alive in me. I walk in resurrection power, performing miracles and living in the supernatural.”

2. I Am a Vessel for Greater Works
John 14:12: “Whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these.”
Declaration:
“I proclaim that I am called to do greater works. Through Jesus Christ, I heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons, and bring heaven to earth. Nothing is impossible for me because I believe in Him.”

3. I Walk in Divine Authority
Luke 10:19: “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”
Declaration:
“I declare that I have authority over all the power of the enemy. I trample on every work of darkness and walk in victory. The enemy has no hold over my life.”

4. I Live by Faith, Not Fear
2 Timothy 1:7: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.”
Declaration:
“I renounce fear and embrace the Spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. I walk boldly, knowing that God is with me and for me.”

5. I Am a Light to the World
Matthew 5:14: “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”
Declaration:
“I declare that I am the light of the world. Through me, God’s power and glory are revealed. I bring hope, healing, and deliverance to those in need.”

6. I Operate in the Supernatural
Mark 16:17-18: “These signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”
Declaration:
“I declare that signs and wonders follow me. In the name of Jesus, I cast out demons, heal the sick, and walk in supernatural protection. God’s power flows through me.”

7. I Have the Mind of Christ
Philippians 2:5: “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.”
Declaration:
“I have the mind of Christ. I think His thoughts, see His vision, and act in His wisdom. Nothing is impossible for me because I have the mind of the One who created all things.”

8. I Am Free from Limitations
Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Declaration:
“I declare that I can do all things through Christ. No limitation or barrier can stop me. I walk in His strength and fulfill His purposes.”

9. I Am Bold and Courageous
Joshua 1:9: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Declaration:
“I declare boldness and courage over my life. I step out in faith, knowing that God is with me and His power goes before me.”

10. I Am Empowered to Change the World
Acts 1:8: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses.”
Declaration:
“I am empowered by the Holy Spirit to change the world. I am a witness of Christ’s power and glory, and through me, His kingdom is established on earth.”

A Call to Action

Believers, it’s time to rise up. The world is waiting for the manifestation of the sons and daughters of God (Romans 8:19). You were created for more than an ordinary life. You were created to walk in power, perform miracles, and bring heaven to earth. Let these declarations shape your faith, renew your mind, and empower you to walk in the authority that Jesus has already given you.

Step out in faith. Practice doing greater works. Trust in the power of God within you. The world will see the glory of God through you.

Amen!

The Power of Hope: Overcoming the Spirit of Despair

In life, it’s easy to find ourselves weighed down by despair. The feeling of hopelessness can be overwhelming, leaving us grasping for anything that might offer relief. When despair strikes, we may seek comfort in a variety of distractions—conversations with others, alcohol, or other fleeting sources of temporary pleasure. Yet, no matter how much time we spend trying to fill the void, the emptiness remains. Why? Because these distractions can never truly satisfy us. Only the Spirit of God can fill us in a way that no earthly distraction ever could. Despair’s Deceptive Comfort When despair sets in, we often turn to things or people for solace. It can be easy to fall into the trap of looking for quick fixes—a conversation with a friend, a drink, or mindless entertainment. While these things may provide momentary comfort or a sense of relief, they ultimately leave us feeling empty. This is because, as human beings, we are designed to be filled by God’s presence. Loving the Unlovable: The Power of God’s Love in a Hurting World

Love. It’s the heart of the Christian faith, and yet, for many of us, it’s one of the hardest things to practice—especially when the people we’re called to love keep hurting us. We know that love is central to who we are as believers, but let’s be honest: loving those who hurt us, especially when they don’t admit their wrongs, can feel impossible. Sometimes, we want to lash out, hurt others with our words or actions, or even withdraw altogether. But what if our love—real, Christ-like love—wasn’t just a feeling, but something much deeper? What if it was a measure of how well we understand the love that God has for us? The Definition of Love: A Reflection of Ourselves In 1 Corinthians 13, we find one of the most beautiful and challenging definitions of love. It says that love is patient, kind, and doesn’t keep a record of wrongs. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. But what if we replaced the word “love” in that chapter with our own n...
