Putting On Christ: A Daily Template for Living in His Glory and Power

As believers, the Bible tells us that being “in Christ” is the place where we receive all good things. It’s where fear, loneliness, powerlessness, anxiety, and doubt lose their grip. It’s where we walk in divine power, peace, and purpose. But how can we, in practical terms, truly put on Christ each day and live in His fullness?

This guide presents a powerful template that can help you literally and spiritually put on Christ. By meditating on the scriptures that describe Christ in His glory, engaging your senses, and using your imagination, you can clothe yourself with His presence and walk in His power daily.

1. Understanding What It Means to Put On Christ

  • “Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ...” (Romans 13:14)

Putting on Christ is more than a metaphor; it’s a spiritual reality. When we consciously clothe ourselves with Christ, we align ourselves with His nature, His power, and His glory. This isn’t just about positive thinking—it’s about becoming one with Him, living in His consciousness, and allowing His attributes to become ours.

When you put on Christ:

  • You no longer walk in fear because His perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18).

  • You no longer feel powerless because His resurrection power is at work in you (Ephesians 1:19-20).

  • You no longer live in doubt because He is your wisdom, righteousness, and sanctification (1 Corinthians 1:30).

2. A Template for Putting On Christ

Step 1: Meditate on Scriptures That Describe Christ in His Glory

To put on Christ, begin by meditating on scriptures that vividly describe Him in His divine majesty. One powerful passage is Revelation 1:12-16, where the apostle John describes Jesus in His glorified form:

  • “I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and among the lampstands was someone like a son of man, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. The hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, and coming out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.” (Revelation 1:12-16)

Reflection: Close your eyes and visualize this description. Imagine Christ in all His glory. Now, in your imagination, see Him stepping toward you and wrapping you in His presence. Picture His attributes becoming yours:

  • His white wool-like hair becomes yours: This signifies purity and divine wisdom now imparted to you.
  • His fiery eyes become yours: You now see with clarity, spiritual discernment, and the fire of His righteousness.
  • His voice like many waters becomes your voice: You now speak with authority and majesty, carrying the weight of His Word.
  • His glowing feet of molten bronze become one with your feet: You walk in the power of His glory, stability, and strength.
  • His golden sash around His chest ties your heart to His: Your heart is bound to His in love and righteousness.
  • His long robe becomes yours: You are clothed in His royal priesthood and holiness.
  • His face shining in all its brilliance becomes your face: This signifies the radiance of His glory and the light of His presence now shining through you.
  • The stars in His right hand become yours: These represent divine authority and responsibility, indicating that you carry His light and His purpose into the world.

Questions to Engage Your Senses:

  • What do you see? Visualize every detail of His appearance.

  • What do you hear? Imagine His voice of many waters resounding in your spirit.

  • What do you feel? Sense the warmth of His glowing presence surrounding you.

  • What do you smell? Perhaps there’s the fragrance of heaven, symbolizing His purity and holiness.

  • What do you taste? Taste the sweetness of His Word and His truth filling your heart.

This sensory engagement helps make the experience more real and alive to you.

Step 2: Declare, “I Put On Christ”

Once you’ve built this vivid mental picture, begin each day with this simple yet powerful declaration:

“Today, I put on Christ. His glory is mine. His power is mine. His wisdom is mine. I walk in His love, His peace, and His strength. I live in His consciousness.”

As you declare this, recall the image you created during your meditation. Each morning, as you make this declaration, the process becomes easier because you’ve already formed a mental “video” of putting on Christ. Over time, this daily practice will help you live in constant awareness of His presence and power.

Step 3: Ask the Holy Spirit for Help

Remember, you don’t have to do this alone. The Holy Spirit is your helper, your guide, and your strength. Ask Him to make this experience more real to you. Invite Him to clothe you with Christ’s presence each day and lead you into deeper encounters with Him.

Prayer:
“Holy Spirit, I invite You to help me put on Christ today. Clothe me with His glory and power. Let His mind be in me, His love flow through me, and His strength sustain me. Lead me in this journey of living fully in Christ. Amen.”

Step 4: Keep Practicing and Reflecting

As with any spiritual discipline, putting on Christ requires regular practice. Each time you do it, take a moment to reflect:

  • How did putting on Christ affect my day?

  • Did I feel more confident, peaceful, or joyful?

  • What did the Holy Spirit reveal to me during this time?

Keeping a journal of your experiences can help you track your spiritual growth and deepen your understanding of what it means to live in Christ.

3. Additional Scriptures for Meditating on Christ in His Glory

Here are other scriptures that vividly describe Christ and can help you put on His presence:

  1. Revelation 4:2-6 “At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne.”

  2. Colossians 3:1-4 “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

  3. Isaiah 6:1-4 “I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim... And they were calling to one another: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty.’”

  4. Hebrews 1:3 “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.”

4. Walking in His Power: Living in the Consciousness of Christ

When you put on Christ, you are clothed with His glory, His power, and His authority. This means you can:

  • Speak with His authority and expect results (Mark 11:23).

  • Walk in His peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

  • Experience His joy, which becomes your strength (Nehemiah 8:10).

  • Overcome fear because His perfect love drives out fear (1 John 4:18).

By putting on Christ daily, you are choosing to live in His consciousness. You walk, speak, and think as He does, and this transforms every aspect of your life.

Conclusion: Putting on Christ Is a Joyful Journey

Putting on Christ isn’t a burdensome task—it’s a joyful, life-giving journey. It’s about stepping into His glory, embracing His presence, and walking in His power. The more you practice, the more real and alive it becomes.

So, start today. Meditate on His Word, engage your senses, declare His presence, and invite the Holy Spirit to help you. As you do, you will find yourself living each day clothed in His glory, empowered by His Spirit, and walking in His perfect peace.

Declaration:
“Today, I put on Christ. I am clothed in His glory, filled with His power, and led by His Spirit. His mind is my mind, His strength is my strength, and His peace is my peace. I live in His consciousness. Amen.”

The Power of Hope: Overcoming the Spirit of Despair

In life, it’s easy to find ourselves weighed down by despair. The feeling of hopelessness can be overwhelming, leaving us grasping for anything that might offer relief. When despair strikes, we may seek comfort in a variety of distractions—conversations with others, alcohol, or other fleeting sources of temporary pleasure. Yet, no matter how much time we spend trying to fill the void, the emptiness remains. Why? Because these distractions can never truly satisfy us. Only the Spirit of God can fill us in a way that no earthly distraction ever could. Despair’s Deceptive Comfort When despair sets in, we often turn to things or people for solace. It can be easy to fall into the trap of looking for quick fixes—a conversation with a friend, a drink, or mindless entertainment. While these things may provide momentary comfort or a sense of relief, they ultimately leave us feeling empty. This is because, as human beings, we are designed to be filled by God’s presence. Loving the Unlovable: The Power of God’s Love in a Hurting World

Love. It’s the heart of the Christian faith, and yet, for many of us, it’s one of the hardest things to practice—especially when the people we’re called to love keep hurting us. We know that love is central to who we are as believers, but let’s be honest: loving those who hurt us, especially when they don’t admit their wrongs, can feel impossible. Sometimes, we want to lash out, hurt others with our words or actions, or even withdraw altogether. But what if our love—real, Christ-like love—wasn’t just a feeling, but something much deeper? What if it was a measure of how well we understand the love that God has for us? The Definition of Love: A Reflection of Ourselves In 1 Corinthians 13, we find one of the most beautiful and challenging definitions of love. It says that love is patient, kind, and doesn’t keep a record of wrongs. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. But what if we replaced the word “love” in that chapter with our own n...
