Breaking Unholy Relationships: Inviting the Higher Glory of El-Roi

Unholy relationships and connections can act as spiritual weights, pulling believers away from God’s purpose and clouding their spiritual walk. The Holy Spirit, in His wisdom, often reveals these connections to believers, urging them to address and sever ties with anything or anyone that hinders their walk with Christ.

The name El-Roi, meaning “The God who sees” (Genesis 16:13), reminds us that God sees all things clearly—both what is seen and unseen. He reveals the hidden influences in our lives and empowers us to cut off unholy connections at their source. Through prayer, declarations, and the Word of God, believers can break free from these relationships and step into the higher glory God has prepared for them.

1. Recognizing the Weight of Unholy Relationships

2 Corinthians 6:14-15: “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?”
Unholy relationships can come in many forms—friendships, romantic entanglements, or even mentorships that pull us away from God’s truth. The Holy Spirit leads believers to discern these connections and take bold steps to sever them.

Reflection:
Imagine chains falling from your hands as God reveals the spiritual burdens of unholy connections. His light shines into every corner of your heart, exposing what must be removed for you to walk in freedom.

Declaration:
“I declare that every unholy connection in my life is exposed by the light of God. I sever every tie that pulls me away from His purpose. I am yoked only with relationships that align with His truth.”

2. Trusting El-Roi: The God Who Sees

Genesis 16:13: “She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: ‘You are the God who sees me.’”
El-Roi sees every hidden agenda, motive, and influence in the relationships around you. He reveals what you cannot see and protects you from harm.

Reflection:
Picture God’s all-seeing eyes watching over you, gently guiding you away from harmful connections. He sees what you cannot and is working to redirect your path.

Declaration:
“I trust El-Roi, the God who sees all things. He exposes every hidden influence and protects me from harm. I walk confidently, knowing He is leading me into His perfect will.”

3. Cutting Ties Through the Power of the Spirit

Matthew 18:18: “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
The Spirit gives believers authority to bind and loose in the spiritual realm. Through prayer, you can cut ties to unholy relationships and break every stronghold that binds you to them.

Reflection:
Imagine wielding a sword of light, cutting through every tie that binds you to unholy relationships. The Spirit empowers you to declare freedom over your life.

Declaration:
“I declare that every unholy tie is broken in Jesus’ name. I bind every spirit of manipulation, control, or deceit, and I loose the freedom of the Spirit in my life. I am free from every relationship that does not glorify God.”

4. Replacing Unholy Connections with Godly Ones

Proverbs 13:20: “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.”
God doesn’t just call you to cut off unholy connections; He provides godly relationships to fill those spaces. These relationships will encourage, strengthen, and align you with His purpose.

Reflection:
Picture yourself walking with companions of wisdom and faith. They encourage you, pray with you, and push you closer to God’s presence.

Declaration:
“I declare that God is replacing every unholy connection with relationships that glorify Him. I walk with the wise, and I am strengthened by godly companions. My life is surrounded by people who reflect His love and truth.”

5. Asking for the Higher Glory of El-Roi

Psalm 29:2: “Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name; worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness.”
El-Roi’s higher glory not only exposes unholy relationships but also fills your life with His presence and power. His glory transforms every broken connection into an opportunity for spiritual growth and healing.

Reflection:
Imagine the radiant glory of El-Roi descending upon your life, consuming every darkness and filling you with His light. His presence renews and restores you, making you whole.

Declaration:
“I call upon the higher glory of El-Roi to expose, heal, and restore. His glory fills my life, replacing every broken connection with His divine purpose. I walk in the splendor of His holiness.”

6. Trusting God for a Fresh Start

Isaiah 43:18-19: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!”
When God removes unholy relationships, He promises to do something new in your life. Trust that His plans for you are good and full of hope.

Reflection:
Picture God opening a door to new opportunities, relationships, and blessings. You step forward, leaving the past behind, and embracing the future He has prepared for you.

Declaration:
“I declare that I leave the past behind and embrace the new thing God is doing in my life. Every unholy connection is replaced with divine opportunities and godly relationships. My steps are guided by His higher glory.”

7. Breaking Generational Patterns of Unholy Connections

Exodus 20:5-6: “I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God... but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.”
Generational patterns of unholy relationships can linger in families, but through Christ, these cycles can be broken.

Reflection:
Imagine God’s love flowing through your family line, replacing every pattern of brokenness with wholeness and healing. You see future generations walking in purity and purpose.

Declaration:
“I declare that every generational pattern of unholy relationships is broken in Jesus’ name. My family line is filled with God’s love and truth, and future generations walk in purity and purpose.”

A Final Call: Walking in Freedom

Believers, El-Roi sees you and desires your freedom. His higher glory exposes every unholy connection, breaks every chain, and leads you into godly relationships that reflect His love. Trust the Spirit’s leading, speak these declarations boldly, and watch as God transforms your relationships for His glory.

Amen!

The Power of Hope: Overcoming the Spirit of Despair

In life, it’s easy to find ourselves weighed down by despair. The feeling of hopelessness can be overwhelming, leaving us grasping for anything that might offer relief. When despair strikes, we may seek comfort in a variety of distractions—conversations with others, alcohol, or other fleeting sources of temporary pleasure. Yet, no matter how much time we spend trying to fill the void, the emptiness remains. Why? Because these distractions can never truly satisfy us. Only the Spirit of God can fill us in a way that no earthly distraction ever could. Despair’s Deceptive Comfort When despair sets in, we often turn to things or people for solace. It can be easy to fall into the trap of looking for quick fixes—a conversation with a friend, a drink, or mindless entertainment. While these things may provide momentary comfort or a sense of relief, they ultimately leave us feeling empty. This is because, as human beings, we are designed to be filled by God’s presence. Our souls are wired to fin...

Loving the Unlovable: The Power of God’s Love in a Hurting World

Love. It’s the heart of the Christian faith, and yet, for many of us, it’s one of the hardest things to practice—especially when the people we’re called to love keep hurting us. We know that love is central to who we are as believers, but let’s be honest: loving those who hurt us, especially when they don’t admit their wrongs, can feel impossible. Sometimes, we want to lash out, hurt others with our words or actions, or even withdraw altogether. But what if our love—real, Christ-like love—wasn’t just a feeling, but something much deeper? What if it was a measure of how well we understand the love that God has for us? The Definition of Love: A Reflection of Ourselves In 1 Corinthians 13, we find one of the most beautiful and challenging definitions of love. It says that love is patient, kind, and doesn’t keep a record of wrongs. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. But what if we replaced the word “love” in that chapter with our own n...
