Paul makes this clear in Romans 12:2“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Renewing the mind is not something we can achieve by our own strength; it requires the work of the Holy Spirit and the truth of God’s Word. Let’s explore how this process works, the relationship between the mind and the heart, and how prayer can help us experience true mental transformation.

Ephesians 4:22-24“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”

The old self is shaped by deceitful desires and worldly thinking, but the new self is created in righteousness and holiness. This transformation begins with a renewed mind.

Paul emphasizes that God’s peace guards both our hearts and minds, showing that they work together in harmony. When our minds are renewed with God’s truth, our hearts are also transformed, leading to lasting change.

When our minds are renewed, we are better able to hear the Spirit’s guidance, discern God’s will, and act in His power.
