Living Fully: Engaging the Spirit World Through Christ

Believers are called to walk in the Spirit, not just in the flesh. Yet, many Christians today are so attuned to their physical senses that they neglect their spiritual identity. They live as though the spiritual world is distant or inaccessible, believing the lie that they are limited to what they can see, hear, and touch. The truth is, as children of God, we are both spirit and flesh, designed to live in communion with God and engage in the supernatural through the Holy Spirit.

Why Believers Struggle to Sense the Spiritual World

  1. Disconnection from Spiritual Identity
“God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:24).
Many believers have forgotten their spiritual identity in Christ. They focus on the physical world, neglecting the reality that they are spiritual beings created in God’s image.

  2. Carnal Mindset
“The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace” (Romans 8:6).
A focus on worldly matters clouds spiritual perception. To engage with the spirit world, believers must renew their minds and prioritize spiritual things.

  3. Fear and Misunderstanding
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).
Many Christians fear the supernatural or misunderstand it, associating it with darkness rather than the light and power of God.

  4. Ignorance of Spiritual Authority
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” (Hosea 4:6).
Without understanding the authority given to them in Christ, believers cannot fully engage in the spirit realm.

Engaging the Spirit World Through Christ

The Bible provides clear instructions on how to walk in the Spirit and engage with the supernatural in Christ. Here are key principles:

  1. Seek God First
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33).
Engage the spirit world by seeking God through prayer, worship, and His Word.

  2. Walk in the Spirit
“So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16).
Living in the Spirit is a daily choice. It requires surrender to the Holy Spirit and a focus on spiritual truths.

  3. Avoid Illegal Spiritual Means
“Let no one be found among you who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft” (Deuteronomy 18:10).
Engaging the spiritual world through Christ ensures safety and alignment with God’s will. Any other means opens the door to danger and deception.

  4. Desire Spiritual Gifts
“Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy” (1 Corinthians 14:1).
God encourages believers to desire spiritual gifts, which help us operate in the supernatural through the Holy Spirit.

  5. Practice Discernment
“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God” (1 John 4:1).
Discernment is key to navigating the spirit world. The Holy Spirit will guide believers into all truth.

The Power of Hope: Overcoming the Spirit of Despair

In life, it’s easy to find ourselves weighed down by despair. The feeling of hopelessness can be overwhelming, leaving us grasping for anything that might offer relief. When despair strikes, we may seek comfort in a variety of distractions—conversations with others, alcohol, or other fleeting sources of temporary pleasure. Yet, no matter how much time we spend trying to fill the void, the emptiness remains. Why? Because these distractions can never truly satisfy us. Only the Spirit of God can fill us in a way that no earthly distraction ever could. Despair’s Deceptive Comfort When despair sets in, we often turn to things or people for solace. It can be easy to fall into the trap of looking for quick fixes—a conversation with a friend, a drink, or mindless entertainment. While these things may provide momentary comfort or a sense of relief, they ultimately leave us feeling empty. This is because, as human beings, we are designed to be filled by God’s presence. Our souls are wired to fin...

Loving the Unlovable: The Power of God’s Love in a Hurting World

Love. It’s the heart of the Christian faith, and yet, for many of us, it’s one of the hardest things to practice—especially when the people we’re called to love keep hurting us. We know that love is central to who we are as believers, but let’s be honest: loving those who hurt us, especially when they don’t admit their wrongs, can feel impossible. Sometimes, we want to lash out, hurt others with our words or actions, or even withdraw altogether. But what if our love—real, Christ-like love—wasn’t just a feeling, but something much deeper? What if it was a measure of how well we understand the love that God has for us? The Definition of Love: A Reflection of Ourselves In 1 Corinthians 13, we find one of the most beautiful and challenging definitions of love. It says that love is patient, kind, and doesn’t keep a record of wrongs. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. But what if we replaced the word “love” in that chapter with our own n...
