Introduction: Seeking God’s Presence
January marks the start of a new year, making it the perfect time to set our hearts on seeking God the Father. Just as an adventurer sets out on a quest with curiosity and excitement, we too can embark on a spiritual adventure to discover more about our Heavenly Father. Throughout scripture, we see that God desires a close relationship with His children—He walked with Adam and Eve, spoke with Abraham, and revealed His glory to Moses. Jesus, too, constantly sought the Father’s presence and modeled a life of deep intimacy with Him, showing us that intimacy with God is both possible and transformative.
This month’s goal is to help believers experience God beyond mere rituals and transactional faith. By fostering a genuine father-child relationship, they will learn that God is not distant but near—a loving Father who sees, hears, and desires to commune with His children.
Key Scripture: Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
Core Bingo Tasks: 9 Activities to Connect with God the Father
Embark on a Quest: Discover God's Voice in Scripture
Key Scripture: Psalm 119:105 "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
Creative Element: Create a visual representation (drawing, painting, or digital art) of how you feel when you seek God with all your heart. This could be an abstract design or a scene inspired by your reflection.
Read Jeremiah 29:13: “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Reflect on what it means to seek God wholeheartedly.
Write down how you feel God is inviting you into a deeper relationship with Him.
Step into the Garden: Experience God's Presence
Key Scripture: Psalm 16:11 "You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore."
Spend 10 minutes in a quiet place. Imagine yourself stepping into a beautiful, vibrant garden in heaven. Picture the vibrant colors of flowers and trees, each one pulsating with life and singing softly to God’s glory. Even the blades of grass beneath your feet hum with the life of God, filling the air with a sense of peace and joy. As you walk deeper into the garden, visualize God the Father waiting for you at a peaceful spot near a crystal-clear river (Revelation 22:1). See the crystal sea nearby, shimmering with the glory of God and reflecting the vibrant colors of heaven. Picture its waters alive, singing with joy and radiating God’s life and beauty. Imagine His warm, welcoming smile as you sit beside Him. Feel His presence radiating love, peace, and acceptance. Speak to Him freely about anything on your heart, and then listen quietly, imagining His voice gently responding to you. Let this time be a sacred moment of connection in His heavenly realm, where everything around you reflects God’s living presence. Imagine His warmth, kindness, and love enveloping you.
Write down what you sensed during this time.
Proclaim the Truth: Declare God's Faithfulness
Key Scripture: Lamentations 3:22-23 "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."
Creative Element: Write your own declaration of God's love and faithfulness. Create a decorative card or poster with your declaration and place it somewhere visible to remind you of His promises.
Declare out loud: “God is my Father. He sees me, loves me, and desires to be with me. I am His child, and I can trust Him with my life.”
Repeat this declaration daily for a week.
Sing with Joy: Worship in God's Presence
Key Scripture: Psalm 100:2 "Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs."
Creative Element: While listening to your chosen worship song, write down any images or words that come to mind. You can also create a poem or short reflection inspired by your worship experience.
Choose a worship song that focuses on God’s love and faithfulness as a Father (e.g., Good Good Father by Chris Tomlin). As you listen, close your eyes and visualize standing in the heavenly throne room (Revelation 4:2-3). See the light and glory emanating from God's throne, and hear the songs of angels and saints filling the air. Picture the crystal sea before the throne, its waters alive with God's presence, reflecting His beauty and majesty. Imagine every part of the scene—walls, floors, even the air itself—pulsating with life and resonating with God’s glory. Imagine everything in the room—walls, floors, even the air itself—alive with God’s presence, resonating with His love and majesty. As you worship, picture God’s radiant light surrounding you, filling you with His peace and joy. Join in the heavenly song, letting your spirit align with the living worship of heaven. Afterward, write down any words or images that came to mind during the worship, and use them as a reminder of His nearness throughout the week. Speak to Your Father: Daily Prayer Connection
Key Scripture: Philippians 4:6 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."
Creative Element: Journal your daily prayers and responses to Matthew 6:9-13. Use colored pens or markers to highlight key words and phrases that stand out to you during prayer.
Pray daily using Matthew 6:9-13: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” Meditate on the phrase “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.” Ask God to reveal Himself as a loving Father.
Treasure God's Promises: Meditate and Reflect
Key Scripture: 2 Corinthians 1:20 "For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God."
Creative Element: Create a small booklet or journal with key promises of God, including Isaiah 41:10. Decorate each page with personal touches like stickers, drawings, or calligraphy.
Read Isaiah 41:10: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Write down how this promise applies to your current situation.
Write to Your Father: Journal His Love
Key Scripture: 1 Peter 5:7 "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you."
Creative Element: After writing your letter to God, create an envelope for it and decorate it with images or symbols that remind you of His fatherly love.
Write a letter to God, addressing Him as “Father.” Share your heart with Him—your desires, fears, and hopes. Then, write down what you feel God is saying back to you.
Hear His Voice: Quiet Listening Time
Key Scripture: John 10:27 "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me."
Creative Element: After your listening session, create a visual diary entry by drawing or writing out what you experienced. Use this as a personal reminder of God's voice and presence.
Spend 10 minutes in silence, listening for God’s voice. As you sit quietly, visualize being in heaven, standing before God’s throne (Isaiah 6:1). Picture the atmosphere around you filled with light and life, every sound and color resonating with God’s glory. Imagine the crystal sea sparkling with divine radiance, its waves singing praises to God. Feel the aliveness of heaven all around you, every element reflecting God’s beauty and love. Even the air seems alive, carrying the gentle whispers of His voice. Imagine Him speaking words of love, encouragement, and guidance to your heart. Picture the peace and glory of His presence enveloping you, and feel the life of heaven flowing through you. Write down any thoughts, impressions, or feelings you receive during this time, and let this exercise help you grow in recognizing His voice. Ask Him to speak to you as a Father. Write down any thoughts or impressions you receive.
Greet Your Father with Gratitude: Daily Thanksgiving
Key Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 5:18 "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."
Creative Element: Create a gratitude jar. Each day, write down the three things you are grateful for on small slips of paper, and place them in the jar. At the end of the month, read through them and reflect on God’s goodness.
Every day this week, write down three things you are grateful to God for. Focus on His character—His love, faithfulness, provision, and kindness.
Breaking Down the Walls: Overcoming Barriers to God’s Love
Performance Mentality:
Many believers feel they must earn God’s love through good deeds or religious performance. Reflect on Ephesians 2:8-9, which teaches that we are saved by grace through faith, not by works. Embrace the truth that God’s love is a free gift.Transactional Mindset:
Often, we approach God with a “give-and-take” mindset, expecting blessings in exchange for good behavior. Break free from this mindset by focusing on Romans 8:15: “For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’”Unworthiness:
Feelings of unworthiness can prevent intimacy with God. Meditate on 2 Corinthians 5:21: “For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” Believe that you are made righteous through Jesus.
Personal Reflection Exercise:
Take 10 minutes to reflect on what might be hindering your intimacy with God the Father. Imagine these barriers as walls standing between you and the vibrant, living presence of God. Visualize God gently tearing down each wall as you surrender them to Him. Picture His light shining through, filling every part of your heart with His life and love. Write down one barrier you feel most strongly about, and each day this week, pray specifically for God's help in overcoming it. Trust that He is actively working to draw you closer, removing every obstacle in His love and inviting you into the fullness of His living presence.
