Most people don’t realize this —
your thoughts and memories are one of the primary places you already interface with Jesus.
Every time a memory surfaces — joyful or painful — something sacred is happening.
You are being invited into communion.
Not later.
Not after you figure it out.
Immediately.
The Hidden Struggle We Were Never Meant to Carry
When a painful thought or memory arises, most people instinctively do one of three things:
-
They wrestle with it, trying to understand it, fix it, or control it
-
They suppress it, locking it away and hoping it won’t return
-
They normalize the heaviness, assuming this is just what life feels like
Even sincere believers often assume struggle is the spiritual price of growth.
But Jesus offers something radically different.
Matthew 11:28
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
He doesn’t say figure it out.
He says come.
The Windscreen Metaphor: Why Life Looks the Way It Does
Imagine driving with a dirty windscreen.
At first, you barely notice it.
But over time:
-
Light glares instead of glows
-
Colors dull
-
Beauty feels distant
-
Everything looks harsher than it really is
The world hasn’t changed — your lens has.
Unprocessed grief, trauma, rejection, and painful memories don’t just hurt —
they filter perception.
People try desperately to “unsee” the dirt.
Positive thinking. Avoidance. Distraction. Discipline.
But none of those clean the glass.
Jesus doesn’t ask us to ignore the dirt.
He offers to clean the window.
The Option Most People Don’t Know They Have
Here is the quiet truth few are taught:
The moment a thought or memory arises, you can give it to Jesus.
Not after processing it.
Not after calming down.
Not after understanding it.
Immediately.
And when you do, He can make it more beautiful instantly —
by removing the emotional charge,
cleansing the lens,
and restoring clarity.
This is not denial.
This is Kingdom perception.
1 Peter 5:7
“Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.”
Casting means releasing — not managing.
When Thoughts Become Worship
What if every thought became an altar?
-
A memory surfaces → you hand it to Jesus
-
A feeling rises → you hand it to Jesus
-
A painful image appears → you hand it to Jesus
No wrestling.
No suppression.
No self-judgment.
Just relationship.
Over time, something shifts:
-
Your inner lens clears
-
Your emotional reactions soften
-
Your vision fills with light
You begin to think the thoughts of the Kingdom, not because you tried harder — but because Jesus cleansed how you see.
Romans 12:2
“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
Renewal happens in presence, not pressure.
An Invitation Into a New Way
Jesus has always shown us a more excellent way.
Not avoidance.
Not struggle.
But surrender.
One thought at a time.
One memory at a time.
One beautiful act of worship at a time.
👉 In the next post, you’ll find a gentle, guided prayer to help you begin practicing this immediately — and to return to it daily as a way of life.
