I take my seat in the house of Wisdom. I quiet myself. I listen to her voice and feast on her counsel.
1. Sacred Invitation (The Opening Posture)
As you begin, center your heart with stillness. Breathe deeply. Then, say or write these intentions:
-
Wisdom, I enter your house with reverence.
-
I take my seat at your table, prepared before time began.
-
I silence my distractions, lay down my striving, and open my ears.
-
I am not in a hurry. I am here to listen.
-
Feed me with counsel. Let your words be my bread today.
2. Scripture Encounter
Proverbs 9:1–6
-
“Wisdom has built her house; she has set up its seven pillars.
-
She has prepared her meat and mixed her wine; she has also set her table.
-
She has sent out her servants, and she calls from the highest point of the city,
-
‘Let all who are simple come to my house!’
-
To those who have no sense she says, ‘Come, eat my food and drink the wine I have mixed.
-
Leave your simple ways and you will live; walk in the way of insight.’”
Proverbs 2:6
-
“For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.”
3. Journaling Dialogue
Spend 5–10 minutes responding as you would in conversation. Try beginning with:
-
Wisdom, I take my place at your table today because…
-
I want to listen to you speak about…
-
What do I need to leave behind to feast on your insight?
Let the conversation be nourishing — honest and receptive.
4. Wisdom Speaks (Prophetic Response)
Now, read this as Wisdom’s gentle response to your presence:
-
I saw you approach, and I pulled out your chair.
-
I have prepared what you need — not just answers, but understanding.
-
My food will fill your soul. My words will settle your storm.
-
You do not need to impress me. You only need to be present.
-
Listen long and you will live wisely.
-
Walk away full, not with noise, but with peace.
-
Come again tomorrow — my table is never empty.
5. Embodied Action
Today’s Practice: Practice sacred listening.
-
Set a 5-minute timer and sit in total silence. Simply whisper at the start,
“Wisdom, I am here. I am listening.” -
Journal anything that arises afterward.
-
At your next meal, eat slowly and mindfully — remember that Wisdom also feeds the soul.
6. Closing Blessing
-
Wisdom, your table is prepared for me.
-
Your voice is my nourishment.
-
I will return again and again to sit, to listen, to live.
